Types of Firewall – What’s Protecting Your Computer

There are several different types of firewall devices available for consumers or professional network systems. The firewall is an important device used to control traffic flow in a system, and the basic application of a firewall is to prevent unwanted visitors to your network through security measures. Firewalls may come in the form of software or built-in features of your operating system, or a firewall could be a physical add-on to a piece of hardware (appliance firewalls). A software firewall is the most common type a home user may work with, and they offer the advantage of easy upgrades and the ability to tweak the security settings at your discretion.

The first firewall to be aware of are network-level firewalls. They are built into most network devices, for instance your router most likely has a network level firewall attached to it. These types of firewall devices inspect packet headers and filter traffic based on the IP address. A network-level firewall by itself will not offer serious protection against hijackers picked up on web-sites. They are more of a basic security protocol found on networking platforms. Another similar type of firewall is circuit-level firewalls, which monitor TCP communication to ensure unwanted guests are not exploiting your server. They do not filter individual packets.

One of the most common types of firewall devices is the application-level firewall. This could be the sort of firewall that you see built into your PC. These are proxies that enforce correct application behavior and block malicious activity on your computer. In other words, if it detects something from the internet is messing with the configuration of your system, it will stomp it out. The downside is that these types of firewalls can both slow your system down, and also interfere with legitimate programs. If you are having difficulty running a new piece of software, it’s possible your proxy firewall is blocking it.

Other, less common, types of firewall devices include stateful multi-level firewalls. These are more likely found in corporations with sensitive data that require the highest caliber firewalls available. They filter packets at a network level and recognize and process application data. In other words they are a secure defense against both malicious applications and server infiltrators. They also do this without employing a proxy, which will not slow a system down. However, these are harder to find on a consumer level and are typically expensive packages utilized by network admins in big companies securing tons of data.

Technical Support Job Description – What You Need To Know

If you are seeking a job as a technical support specialist, understand that this is a varied career choice. The technical support job description could entail a number of different specialties, depending on the job description. Most software companies and electronics companies require technical support staff to manage incoming calls by consumers who do not understand or are experiencing difficulty with a specific product. Sometimes, these positions end up outsourced to distant countries in order to cut-costs. However, there are still plenty of options available for domestic positions, and some companies advertise their domestic hiring policy as a feature of their service.

A good example of a technical support job description would be with a company that produces routers. This is a complex device that is routinely used by consumers who are setting up home-networks for the first time. Many people who are less proficient with computers may experience difficulty with enabling their network, and will call a technical support specialist’s phone number found with the manual of the product. They will be patched to a call center, where a technician will attempt to guide the user through the process of installation. Therefore, this job will require adept understanding of the product in question, as well as computer proficiency to understand different operating systems and the steps the user is making to install the device.

Typically, a technical support job description also includes training through the company. A technical support specialist for Cisco Systems will experience extensive training on a wide variety of networking devices that the company offers. Support staff is typically designated to different levels based on experience and expertise, and they must know how to transfer calls to higher level support staff if the problem is beyond their understanding. It may or may not be necessary to have a related college degree to join a technical support staff. This largely depends on the type of company and the scope of the technical proficiency required.

The technical support job description may also entail foot-work. A technical support specialist could be a representative who actually does home installations. For instance somebody who installs cable devices into homes or offers at-home tech support such as Best Buy’s “Geek Squad”. These positions may require extended knowledge in their field, additional training, and the ability to drive. In particular, tech support specialists at a company like Best Buy are encouraged to have some type of vocational training in computer science, or equivalent training based on experience in their field. Overall, the technical support field is a great choice for people interested in customer service and technical know-how.

My SonicWALL – Getting Started

SonicWALL is a comprehensive internet security platform service that provides security essentials for a wide range of clients. From home users to government organizations and large corporations, SonicWALL products range from firewalls for small home networks to the massive Global Response Intelligent Defense (GRID) Network designed to monitor informational breaches across government systems and help protect the national securities of the clients implementing the service. Whichever product is utilized by SonicWALL, the company has designed a convenient way to access the security network in an easy manner through a service known as My SonicWALL.

The purpose of My SonicWALL is to allow easy access and registration of potentially large numbers of SonicWALL products and services. By creating a user profile with this service, a client may collectively access and register large numbers of different security devices. This could be as simple as managing anti-spam and email security services for your company or home-use, or managing backup and recovery products. Most SonicWALL products are completely scalable, which means a massive government defense grid could potentially be scaled down to employ similar technology for your home network.

To gain access to my SonicWALL is as simple as going to the primary mySonicWALL web-site and completing an online subscription form. In order to access the My SonicWALL web-site, you will have to wait until you receive a subscription code by e-mail. Then, head to the mySonicWALL site, enter the access code, and you’ll be given permission to enter. From this point, you’ll have access to a secure platform where you can begin registering your services, accessing firmware and security updates, as well as activate, change, or delete SonicWALL security services from an internet platform. It’s important to stay up-to-date with all the latest updates to your security software in order to maintain your system remains protected against adaptive threats.

A trespasser cannot compromise your system through My SonicWALL, however it’s possible for your services to get tampered with if registration is turned off or certain security services are deactivated. For that reason, mySonicWALL information should be kept in a secure location and guarded as with any sensitive password. This service is designed for home and business users to help manage their SonicWALL products, and not necessarily for higher-end security platforms that could relate to especially sensitive financial or government data. For more information about SonicWALL and their security solutions, contact a local representative or check out their main web page for more information.

Linksys Support Phone Number – Contacting Linksys

Linksys is a division of Cisco and are the manufacturers of a wide variety of both home and professional level networking utilities. The odds are if you browse with any type of high speed internet, you have, or have worked with, Linksys routers, modems, or dual-band N routers. Unfortunately, sometimes these products have technical support related issues. If your home router is experiencing performance issues or it fails to install properly, you should consider calling the Linksys support phone number, which is sometimes found on the back of your router or modem, or with the manual that came with the device.

Sometimes, before you call the Linksys support phone number, you may want to consider different options to fix your home network setup by yourself and gain valuable experience. For routers, ensure the cables are configured in a way that makes sense. The cables must create a line of communication between your computer, the modem, and the router that splits the connection to your network. If a cable is plugged into the wrong port, it may be cutting off the connection. A problem with the cable configuration relates to the majority of Linksys support related questions.

If you are experiencing difficulty with your Linksys modem, find a paper-clip and locate the tiny reset button usually on the front of the modem. Press and hold it for a couple of seconds and the modem will reset and reconfigure. Sometimes, your computer just needs to re-communicate with the modem. If this still doesn’t work, consider if there is a problem with your cable service provider. It’s not uncommon for services like Cox or Qwest to temporarily disconnect for maintenance issues. If you still cannot find a resolution, then call the Linksys support phone number.

You should also make sure that your system is compatible with your Linksys product. Some systems may require certain driver adaptors in order to install a Linksys product. Newer operating systems like Windows 7 usually automatically install necessary drivers. However, if you are using an older system you may have to find a Linksys resource online, or a driver database, to find the proper software that matches your specific product and operating system, and then install it manually. If you need help understanding whether or not your operating system is compatible with a Linksys product, contact the Linksys support phone number. Their customer service specialists are known for prompt responses.

Juniper Network Connect download – Where to Go

The Juniper Network Connect download (NC) is a clientless VPN user platform, which serves as a remote access mechanism for corporate resources. The network supports internet access nodes that include all traditional broadband services as well as dial up / ISDN providers, and it can work through client-side proxies and firewalls. NC basically filters traffic from the client into the Network Connect tunnel. It creates a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Creating a Secure Access server is valuable for companies running networks and sharing sensitive material.

Network Connect turns the client into a node on a corporate LAN, and thus becomes invisible on the user’s local LAN. Users may continue to access the local LAN while simultaneously connecting to a remote LAN. Essentially, the traffic is filtered into the Network Connect tunnel to the internal corporate server. To secure data, it’s important that unauthorized users do not have access to the PC that’s running the Juniper Network Connect download or they will bypass this entire protocol.

The Juniper Network Connect download also provides a way for remote clients using a proxy server to access the internet, or the IVE via the internet. Or, it allows clients without a proxy to access resources from a network via a proxy. This creates a secure data management system for clients as well as personnel of a corporation transferring data streams of sensitive material. Network Connect has the ability to temporarily change the proxy settings of a browser so that only traffic intended for the network Connect filter uses those temporary proxy settings. To run a Juniper network like this one, one can work directly with the company, or the network administrator can install Network Connect by themselves in order to hook the company to the private VPN.

The Juniper Network Connect download can be found through the Juniper Networks homepage. Juniper Networks is a world leading network company with services that range from comprehensive gaming networks to systems designed to assist the stock market, and many of the network foundations that built America Online. Using Juniper Networks is a reliable way to secure your company with a private VPN in order to increase security protocols and reliability. For more information about Juniper Network Connect, visit the Juniper Network homepage at www.juniper.net. There is also a number of other services listed, as well—from security to routing to data center fabric.

Juniper Login – Accessing the Juniper Login Prompt.

Juniper Networks is a networking solution company that handles clients from small businesses to international firms, banks, and government entities. After you have purchased a Juniper product or service, you can utilize a wide range of services on the main Juniper web-site. Juniper login information allows access to secure account information used to manage large-scale security networks. Customers will gain access to the login information through their registered email addresses, and Juniper Networks employees use their network User ID and password provided at employment.

If you are a network administrator, be sure to take the Juniper login information from your supervisor or whoever has access to the network information. Keep this in a secure place in case you must access account information, or enter the restricted area of the web-site for troubleshooting with Juniper technical staff. It’s important to keep all login and account information with a Juniper product secure to avoid potential infiltration to a sensitive corporate LAN. Fortunately, Juniper is an experienced team that frequently partners with IT specialists from all across the globe in the maintenance of Juniper networks among varied types of organizations.

Aside from the Juniper login prompt, the main Juniper web-site also offers plenty of support resources, including online ticket claiming and technical support phone numbers. It’s not uncommon for a LAN to experience specific issues that the Juniper teams are ready to solve. From VGW series service gateway systems to the entire mobile infrastructure of your company, the customer support team is trained in many high-tech specialties to allow them to support your company or organization’s networking needs.

The Juniper login platform also allows access for employees and partners to manage their Juniper accounts and information. This is a highly secure, encrypted access point that is fairly safe to work through, although one should always practice caution entering sensitive data on an unsecured channel. Your corporation should have adequate firewalls and security measures in place before accessing the login prompt, and employees should practice caution with their sensitive employee ID number and account information in order to prevent incidences of identity theft. With some caution, you can continue to utilize the Juniper systems web-page to maintain the integrity of your network and keep up to date with valuable account information. For more information, visit the Juniper Systems primary web page.

HP Network Printer Wizard – A Basic Tutorial

The HP Network Printer Wizard is part of the installation bundle when you bring home your Hewlett Packard printer. The purpose of the wizard is to assist with the installation of a printer that is attached to a network of home or office computers. The advantage to having a printer attached to a network is the ability to access the printer from any number of computers. An integrated network system could even allow a wireless printer to accept print commands from work-spaces in other parts of the same building, or to have a single printing hub for all sections of an office. Some of the difficulty of installing your printer network can be alleviated by following the network wizard.

You will find the HP Network Printer Wizard bundled as a CD with the rest of the software. It’s best to install the printer first as normal with the regular installation CD. Make sure other printers on your network are configured, as well. Afterward, to install the network, insert the network wizard CD. When you insert the CD, the first step is that it will ask you to select the device. At this point, it will list all supported printers that appear on the network. If a printer does not come up as listed, it means it is not part of the network and will require separate troubleshooting steps.

The next option on the HP Network Printer Wizard is to select a protocol and print path. Select the device(s) to install to the network, and then the easiest way is to select “Configure network settings for me”. With any luck, this will configure the selected devices into one easy network. If there are any issues with this, you may need to seek additional customer support through the HP web-site. If your printer device is not configured, it may not recognize the IP address, and additional steps may be required at this point.

The next step on the HP Network Printer Wizard is you must configure the print path configuration. Typically, it will highlight the preferred method between a Windows TCP/IP (Direct IP mode) and Windows IPX/SPX (Direct IPX/SPX mode). If you selected “Configure network settings for me”, this will be automatically handled to the best specifications. The next step is to select a printer device driver. At this point, if your driver is not already installed it will search your system for the driver. The driver is usually found on the installation disc, or sometimes it must be retrieved from the HP web-site. With a proper driver installation, the network should be ready to use. Print some test pages to make sure it works.

Fortinet Support – Navigating the Support Page

Fortinet is a popular company that provides security solutions for both small businesses as well as large corporations. Some of the types of clients who benefit from Fortinet range from government organizations requiring secure servers, to banks and financial organizations, to home users requiring the highest end “prosumer” level security advantages. If a private consumer or organizational representative is experiencing difficulties with their Fortinet technology, the company provides the Fortinet support platform available at their main support service page, support.fortinet.com.

At the Fortinet support page, before you attempt to reach their support staff consider using their knowledge base and technical documentation, or to access their discussion forums. Forums are a great resource to learn more about your Fortinet products by consulting with other users. This is also a resource where you can learn more about utilizing your Fortinet product to its maximum capacity. If you are unable to find the answers you are seeking through these services, you may want to consider contacting a Fortinet specialist directly through one of several options on the customer service page.

From the same web-page, it’s possible to access the assistance center which includes live web chat. This is useful especially if you are part of a network team in your company, and you wish to collaborate with the rest of your team on figuring out a solution to the security software or hardware problem. It’s also possible to submit a ticket from this location to have a Fortinet support specialist contact you directly to work through phone based or chat customer service. While at this page, consider upgrading your Fortinet products to the latest security platforms to ensure your information remains secure. You can access these features easily by checking out the FortiGuard center from the Fortinet customer service homepage.

Fortinet support teams are always high-end professionals. This particular profession requires a high standard of computer and security knowledge, and Fortinet employs only masters of information technology and security systems. In this way, you won’t have to worry about having your phone-call outsourced to somebody with less knowledge about the subject than you have. After you have solved your service issue, consider certifying and training yourself in a Fortinet product. This is a great way to expand your career, or perhaps impress your employers with an official understanding of the Fortinet products that are used to ensure the security of sensitive information, to protect your business or personal information.

Dell Tech Support Phone Number – Some of the Uses

If you are experiencing any problems with your Dell PC or printer, consider using the Dell tech support phone number. The company offers 24 hour service and can help with a number of issues, including installation problems. If you are a new PC owner, it’s not uncommon to experience technical issues during installation. These are typically either software or hardware related issues, and each one requires a different level of expertise in order to solve.

Software issues typically include compatibility problems between the PC and the programs that are running on it. Before you call the Dell tech support phone number, make sure the problems you are experiencing are in the range of what Dell tech help can offer. If you are having problems with software specific to the PC that they built, you can reach them for help. For instance, your media player or word processing software is not installing or appears not to function. However, it’s less likely Dell will assist with software related issues that are not part of your Dell PC package.

If you are having hardware issues, you may want to consider checking your driver configuration before you call the Dell tech support phone number. Your printer, scanner, or fax machine all requires specific installation software to be compatible with your new PC, which are called drivers. Typically, the first thing Dell customer service will ask is whether the drivers are installed. Sometimes, you may not have access to the original drivers on disc, and you may need to search online. The best idea is to write down the manufacturer number and / or brand of your piece of hardware, and perform a Google search. There are download archive sites that often provide free driver downloads, just be careful that the site is a legitimate source.

Another reason to call the Dell tech support phone number is for networking related troubleshooting. If you are setting up your home office with Dell products, and you need assistance configuring network communication, Dell should be able to help with that. Typically, a networking setup is useful if: you have multiple people in the family using the same PC configuration, or: you are part of a business and require employee access. For networks, a strong level of security is needed. This includes passwords and firewalls. Unfortunately, networks are a common target among hackers, and if you have many different people accessing the network in a company, you must be careful of security breaches happening from within. Call Dell for more information about setting up networks.

Cisco Singapore – What You Need to Know

Cisco Systems is a world-wide networking and technology solutions company. As an international business, they have a wide variety of branches in numerous countries spotted across the globe. This includes CiscoSingapore, which is a great option for both international businesspeople, residents ofSingapore, and businesses involved with networking systems between countries to enable services such as wireless teleconferences. Consider working with Cisco Systems for a wide variety of technological needs for your company.

Some of the advantages of working with a company like Cisco Systems, or a branch such as CiscoSingapore, are the constantly increasing amount of available technology, and the ability to configure businesses with technological capability. For years, Cisco has been developing networking solutions for businesses, and this technology is always being updated. As a home consumer, it’s likely that you’ve had Cisco products in your home, as they produce a huge number of the routers and modems that home PC and Mac users require. For small businesses, their services expand, especially in the realm of teleconferencing. It’s possible to set up huge wireless networks for cross-business communication using Cisco products.

When working with CiscoSingapore, the web-site offers both English and the native language. This is good as even if you are not a resident ofSingaporeyou can still navigate their primary site. This way, if you are handling networking services in this country, you can still work through their primary site if you must assist customers. This may be necessary if your corporation has created a teleconferencing capability with a country likeSingapore. In addition, if you are a resident ofSingaporethere is easy deliver of Cisco products to your country, which is why the company has spent so much time to ensure it has properly branched into this market.

The advantage with CiscoSingaporeand other aspects of Cisco Systems is that through business to business networking, it’s possible to open up a wide array of communications. In this way, a business affiliate in another country can be part of your meetings as if they were right there in the room. It’s interesting to remember how 25 years ago, the idea of video conferencing was actually closer to science fiction—and a popular cliché in sci-fi TV shows like Star Trek. These days, there are no longer geographic boundaries, and this technology is far superior to the science fiction concepts of yesteryear
